Cabinet gives nod for pacts by Exim Bank under BRICS mechanism

The Cabinet has approved signing of interbank local currency credit line agreement and cooperation memorandum relating to credit ratings by Exim Bank with member banks under BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism.

India, Norway to work together in maternal, adolescent health

India and Norway have signed a Letter of Intent to extend health cooperation, especially in the areas of reproductive, maternal, new-born, child and adolescent health.

Google, BHEL, SBI top job site Indeed’s workplace rankings in India

Google, Bharat Heavy Electricals and State Bank of India have been named as the top three best places to work in India by leading global job site Indeed.

Indeed revealed the 50 best places to work in India for 2017, curated from the site’s hundreds of thousands of company reviews from employees.



BANKING & FINANCE

ICICI Bank launches ‘cashback’ home loans

India’s largest private sector lender by consolidated assets, ICICI Bank has announced a new home loan scheme that offers borrowers the benefit of 1% cashback on every EMI, for the entire tenure of the loan. The offer will be valid for home loans with a minimum tenure of 15 years and maximum tenure of 30 years.

  • Customers can choose to adjust the cashback against principal outstanding of their home loan. Or, they can get it as direct credit in their bank account.


ECONOMY

India jumps to 14th rank as best country for expats: HSBC

India leapt up the global rankings by 12 places to take the 14th spot in terms of best country for expats to live and work in, says a HSBC survey.

The list, which is topped by Singapore, is part of HSBC’s latest ‘expat explorer survey’ that covered 27,587 expats from 159 countries and territories in March and April this year.

IBBI Registered National E-Governance Services Ltd as Information Utility

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) registered National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL) as an Information Utility (IU) under the IBBI (Information Utilities) Regulations, 2017. With this NeSL has become the first IU registered by the IBBI and the registration is valid for five years from the date of registration.

  • Information Utility stores financial information that helps to establish defaults as well as verify claims expeditiously and facilitates completion of transactions under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in a time-bound manner.


APPOINTMENTS

BHU Appoints its First Woman Chief Proctor

The Banaras Hindu University has appointed Professor Royana Singh as its Chief Proctor. She will be the first woman to hold the post, as per an official of the 101-year-old central University.

Saudi Arabia names first woman to senior government post

Eman Al-Ghamdi, a Saudi woman has been named to a senior government post for the first time, shortly after a ban on women drivers was lifted. She was given the post “as part of plan to boost the number of females in leadership positions in line with Vision 2030.

Maryna Viazovska to receive 2017 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize

Maryna Viazovska of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland, will receive 2017 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for her contribution to number theory.

  • SASTRA Ramanujan Prize was established in 2005 and is awarded annually for outstanding contributions by young mathematicians to areas influenced by Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Union Finance Minister releases book on Financial Management

The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley along with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu released a book on financial management in New Delhi

  • The book titled “A to Z of Financial Management in Autonomous Institutions” is authored by Dr. Rajat Bhargava and Shri Deenanath Pathak.

Makhan Lal Fotedar, a veteran Congress leader who was a close confidante of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, has passed away.

CPM leader K.R Aravindakshan passes away in Kozhikode

Communist Party Marxist State General Secretary K.R Aravindakshan has passed away.

  5. Today, I went to the beach with my kids.

    I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the
    shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
    her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely
